Kashmir: State Police confiscate 14 mobile phones from prison in Baramulla

As per PTI reports, 14 mobile phones were confiscated from a prison in Baramulla district of J & K by the state police.

Imtiyaz  Hussain, SSP of Baramulla, said, “We had got inputs from jail authorities about their suspicions that some mobile phones were being operated from inside the jail premises,” He further added, “There are quite a few militants there and we have found some phones on them as well. They were on WhatsApp and we can see that they were in touch with some Pakistani numbers as well…So we will look into the whole issue.”

The SSP also reported that an FIR has been filed against 10 to 12 prisoners who were found with the phone. The phones will be be sent for forensic research to retrieve the data that was in them.

Earlier, on Friday, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had said that Pakistan was using social platforms including WhatsApp to instigate the Kashmiri youth.
