Monday: Militants attacked a CRPF convoy at Panthachowk, near Srinagar, in J & K leaving six off its troops injured along with a 10-year old girl.
CRPF’s Public Relations Officer B Chaudhary spoke to ANI and said, “Our companies were heading to Srinagar from Jammu when terrorists opened fire. Six personnel were injured and have been taken to a hospital,”
He went to add that all troops are on high alert and said, “It is a sensitive time, with separatists calling for a boycott of the elections [by-polls],”
The said 10-year-old girl who was injured has been identified as Drangbal Pampore’s resident, Zainab.
Raising serious security concerns in the Kashmir Valley, this is the third militant attack in the state Capital in as many days. The by-elections will take place on April 9 and April 12 in Srinagar and Anantnag.
Earlier, on Sunday, a grenade attack in Nowhatta town of J & K led to death of one police officer and injury of at least 10 other security officers. On Saturday, another militant attack on an Army convoy caused injury of a soldier near Srinagar.
