Amar Chitra Katha: A celebration of Indian fables, folktales and mythology

Volume 1 Issue 20The Booknerds Club, in Dehradun, recently organised a Comic Book Hangout at L’Opera, Dehradun as a fun initiative by the literary club to bring together bibliophiles to discuss comic books. The second Hangout in the series was centered around the Amar Chitra Katha fables, folktales and mythology.

The Hangout was kick-started with the club’s founder Rohan Raj introducing the concept and why is it imperative that youth be aware of our heritage.

The participants present at the meet, discussed comic books, their favourite characters, stories and some folktales.

Apart from the discussions, co-founder Neha Raj conducted The Comic Strip Design Contest which was won by Smrity Lal.

“The Booknerd” of the hangout was awarded to Nituj Hari Har Lal for his astounding collection of 150 Amar Chitra Katha books from his childhood days. He is a Law Consultant in Dehradun as well as an amateur-photographer.

The Comic Book Hangout was moderated by Founder Rohan Raj wherein comic books based on mythological characters like Karna, Krishna, Hanuman and many more were read and discussed.

The hangout concluded with some coffee and candid chit chat.

After the amazing response to the one of a kind event The Booknerds shall be organizing more such literary events around the year to encourage the love for reading.

The Booknerds will be meeting next on February 26 at 11:30 am at Times Square Mall for the launch of Delhi author Kamini Kusum’s book Secrets, Sins and Struggles.
