A photo of a dead army-person circulating on the internet recently sparked rumours of death of BSF Jawan Tej Bahadur Yadav. Both, Facebook and Twitter, were stirred with the rumoured death of ‘whistle-blower’ Yadav.
The photo circulating on the social platforms shows a jawan with his nose bleeding, eyes closed and a part of his face covered with a cloth. The close resemblance of the two jawans triggered the rumours.
However, the Border Security Force (BSF) and Yadav’s wife have spoken in the matter, dismissing the rumours.
“Tej Bahadur Yadav is hale and hearty. He is currently stationed in Samba district in Jammu and Kashmir.” BSF Public Relations Officer, Shubhendu Bhardwaj, said to a media-house.
Speaking on the same matter Sharmila Yadav, wife of Tej Bahadur spoke to Outlook and said, “A veteran jawan, who had seen the social media posts, had called me to inquire about my husband. I called him (Yadav) and have spoken with him. He is absolutely fine and is at the station, where he is awaiting the board of inquiry probing charges against and by him.”
Incidentally, the rumoured photo was claimed to be that of one of the CRPF jawans killed by Maoists in Chhattisgarh.
Tej Bahadur Yadav was in the news in January after he posted a video. In the video, Yadav had described the poor quality of food provided to jawans. He had also alleged that besides comprising on food quality, senior officers siphoned off ration money meant for soldiers at the border. The video went viral and also led to an inquiry against him.
